Reaction with aromatic halides

Reaction with Aromatic Halides. Synthesis of Biaryls... [Pg.85]

Hosseinzadeh et al. [44] introduced a new silica-supported Cu catalyst and explored its catalytic activity for the "Click" reaction (Scheme 26). The catalyst was prepared by stirring a mixture of copper(II) acetate and MCM-41 in ethanol for 8h at 35 °C. The surface area, pore volume, and pore diameter of Cu(OAc)2/MCM-41 were 47.7m /g, 0.15 cc/g, and 35.9 A respectively. Although this procedure worked efficiently for aliphatic halides it did not initiate reaction with aromatic halides. The catalyst was recovered by filtration followed by washing and drying. The recovered catalyst was successfully used up to three cycles without any loss of activity. [Pg.21]
