Rain sensors

Comfort/ - angular rate - rain sensor (Europe) ... [Pg.11]

The optical system used by most rain sensors consists of a light emitting diode (LED), a light receiving diode (LRD), an ambient light sensor, an electronic control unit (ECU), and several lenses (Fig. 7.14.2). [Pg.474]

An automatic windshield wiper system consists of a rain sensor, a wiper motor, a column switch, and relays or an ECU (Fig. 7.14.3). The rain sensor is mounted on the windshield in the wiped area to detect rain and wiper motion in such a way that the driver always has a good view. There are two different systems. [Pg.475]

Stand-alone rain sensors in this system the rain sensor is directly connected to the wiper column switch, the wiper motor relays, and the wiper motor park signal. [Pg.475]

Rain sensors in a network in this system the rain sensor is connected to a bus system, it receives all information and sends all commands via this network. [Pg.475]

The ambient light information can used in the vehicle system to control the dashboard illumination and the air conditioning. An additional function of the rain sensor can be to detect sudden rain and close open windows or sun roofs in conjunction with an anti-pinch device to prevent occupant injury, of course. [Pg.480]

A control interface can be used to control the complete CMS, e.g., in order to set the zoom factor or to select a specific field of view. If a CMS is integrated into a modem vehicle, interactions with other vehicle systems are an unavoidable consequence. A CMS thus requires interfaces, for example, to the following vehicle systems gear selection, door control unit, seat control unit, rain sensor, light sensor, and turn signals. These interfaces are typically realized via the vehicle busses... [Pg.26]
