Radiocarbon dating archaeological applications

The list is not intended to be exhaustive, hut it simply gives examples of AMS facilities especially involved in applications of radiocarbon dating to art and archaeology. A complete list of laboratories worldwide can be found at http //www.radiocarbon.org.

In addition, a seventh often unstated assumption maintains that there is a direct and specific association between the sample to be analyzed and the event or phenomena to be dated. The first six assumptions are the subject of continuing study by radiocarbon specialists (35,36,37). It is the unique responsibility of the field archaeologist to determine if the seventh assumption holds for each sample submitted for analyses (38). We will return to this point in the conclusion. Surprisingly, however, one of the earliest and continuing problems in applications in archaeology... 

The radiocarbon method has a very wide application in various fields of science. On the basis of the presented results of the dating of bones and wood, we presented the use of this method in determining the chronology of archaeological sites. At the same time, the possibility of using various materials, in this case bones and wood, with a small quantity required for the dating of the fraction, makes it a valuable source of information for a comparison with the relative chronology.
