Radiation respiratory tract damage

In the upper atmosphere (the stratosphere), ozone is beneficial because it protects us from harmful ultraviolet radiation that comes from the Sun. However, in the lower atmosphere, ozone irritates the eyes and respiratory tract, which causes coughing and decreased lung function. In addition, ozone causes fabric to deteriorate and rubber to crack it also damages trees and crops.
