Quach and Simha

Table 4.14 exhibits the experimental data of Quach and Simha (1971), Simha et al. (1973), Beret and Prausnitz (1975) and Zoller et al. (1977-1989). The constant b2 has an average value of 4.5 x 10-3 (°C) 1, whereas bt and b3 are obviously dependent on the nature of the polymer. Further analysis showed that b1 is proportional to the bulk modulus K (the latter will be treated in Chap. 13) roughly... 

The analysis of vitreous state data followed the simplified procedure, justified by earlier works [Quach and Simha, 1971, 1972 McKinney and Simha, 1974, 1976 Curro et al., 1981 Utracki, 2007a]. The independent variables in the glassy state are indicated by primes (i.e., T and P ). From the PVT dependencies the hole fl action, hg ass = h(T, P ), was calculated by substituting V=V T, P ) into Eq. (14.2), for which the P ), (7 ), and (V )parameters were known from the T> Tg data. The hole fraction that the melt would have at T and P, /lextrapoi = KT, P was computed from... 

We take the data from Quach and Simha for the pressure dependence of the Tp transition, and from Boyer for the Tn transition.
