Pyrex®plus

Many of the carbon compounds containing both fluorine and oxygen decompose by complex mechanisms. However, the thermal decomposition of tetrafluoro-ethylene oxide is claimed to be unimolecular over the temperature range 115-140 °C, with = 5 X 10 sec and E = 31.6 kcal.mole". The products are carbonyl fluoride and perfluoroethylene plus perfluorocyclopropane (probably formed from CF2). In a pyrex glass vessel at 40-45 °C trifluoroacetylfluoride is produced by a heterogeneous process. 

Toutes les experiences ont ete effectuees par la methode gravimetrique. La balance utilisee, du type McBain, a ete decrite dans le travail precedent (J). L extension du ressort de silice a ete mesuree avec un cathetometre au de millimetre, ce qui, suivant le ressort employe, correspond b une sensibilite de 1 a 3 X 10 g. II a ete done possible de mesurer un recouvre-ment de la surface d par la couche chimisorbee de I ordre de 0.0006 pour O2 et de 0.0003 pour CO et COj. L echantillon etait place dans des nacefies en quartz ou en Pyrex de differentes formes examinees plus loin. 

The cooling lock has an internal column of 300 mL and is machined from stainless steel. An outer jacket allows for a variety of coolants. The steam generator is a 2-L autoclave. A Milton-Royal high pressure pump allows for the continuous addition of water to the hot generator, ir necessary. The product collector if a pyrex vessel approximately 8 inches in diameter and 5 inches deep. Separated gas passes to a brine displacement vessel for volume measurement. A number of electrical and mechanical overrides plus barriers are designed to prevent any injury to the operator as a result of accidental discharge from the reactor or steam vessel. In addition, the control panel is located in a separate room adjacent to the reactor.
