Pusher force

Inclining the hearth increases the safe length. This is the principal reason why furnaces for heating thin stock have inclined hearths. Hearth inclination reduces pusher force in accordance with the equation... [Pg.155]

The feed slurry enters through a stationary central pipe into a feed accelerator/distributor, then is introduced onto the (in this case) oscillating inner basket just in front of the pusher plate. In the feed zone, most of the liquid is drained, forming a cake sufficiently stiff to transfer the push force through the bed of solids and transport the cake without shearing. This is why it requires fast-draining materials and is liquid-limited, since it must form a cake within the period of one stroke. [Pg.2071]

External forces applied to the structure, for example, thrust exerted on the hearth and skids by a pusher... [Pg.398]

A 0.025 in hydrophilic wire (Boston Scientific, Natick, MA) is a nice alternative to use instead of the coil pusher. The larger lumen prevents wedging along side of the microcoil. The hydrophilic coating of the glidewire allows the wire to more readily pass around the tortuous curves that the microcatheter may be forced to take. [Pg.80]

A post-mixer dump extruder has a large feed hopper which is often equipped with a pusher to force the material into the screw. The mixer discharges directly into this feed hopper. The mix is then taken into the screw and extruded down the screw flights to the discharge end of the extruder (head end). [Pg.211]

When an electrolyte, such as NaCl, is added to a polymer solution, the repulsive forces are screened by a double layer of electrolytes and extension is reduced. As the electrolyte concentration increases, the extension of the polymer chain decreases and the solution viscosity declines. Fig. 5.1533 illustrates the effect of salinity on the relative viscosity (apparent solution viscosity/solvent viscosity) of 250-ppm solutions of Pusher 700 , a partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide.34 Chain extension also is controll by the... [Pg.12]
