It is difficult to generalize about the need for solvent and electrolyte purification or the best procedures to follow in a particular application. Common impurities in nearly all organic solvents and electrolytes are water and oxygen, which can be present in commercial materials in concentrations ranging from zero to a few millimolar depending on the source of the material.
