Four-Lobe Pump Sliding Vane Pump... [Pg.213]

Pumps, sliding vane cast iron with pump, base plate, hear box or coupling but excluding motor. FOB cost 10000 at a capacity = 10 L/s with n = 0.75 for the range 0.4-120. L+M = 1.6-2.3. L/M = 0.15. Factor without motor, X 1.00 ... [Pg.385]

The sliding-vane compressor is widely used as a vacuum pump as well as a compressor, with the largest volume approximately 6,000 cfm. The lower end of the volume range is 50 cfm. A single-stage compressor with atmospheric inlet pressure is limited to a 50 psi discharge pressure. In booster service, the smaller units can be used to approximately 400 psi. [Pg.8]

The sliding vane compressors and vacuum pumps have internal sliding vanes mounted longitudinally on an eccentric rotor in the body casing, Figures 12-114 and 12-115. [Pg.526]

This example of a single-rotor type pump makes use of an eccentric shaft on which are mounted several sliding vanes (see Figure 3-60). The vanes are forced against the... [Pg.470]

In much the same manner as pumps, compressors are classified as one of two general classes positive displacement or dynamic (see Figure 3-68) [23]. These two general classes of compressors are the same as that for pumps. The positive displacement class of compressors is an intermittent flow device, which is usually a reciprocating piston compressor or a rotary compressor (e.g., sliding vane, screws, etc.). The dynamic class of compressor is a continuous flow device, which is usually an axial-flow or centrifugal compressor (or mix of the two). [Pg.477]

Due to the friction of the sliding vanes, the biggest pump size available (water cooled) is about 4001/s. Smaller pumps (0.5-51/s) are air cooled. [Pg.29]

Related Calculations. Use this procedure for any type of rotary pump—gear, lobe, screw, swinging-vane, sliding-vane, or shuttle-block—handling any clear, viscous liquid. Where the liquid is gas-free, apply only the viscosity correction. Where the liquid viscosity is less than 600 SSU but the liquid contains gas or air, apply the entrained or dissolved gas correction, or both corrections. [Pg.234]

Several types of compressor have characteristics intermediate between those of PD compressors and centrifugal or axial-flow compressors. These include the lobe type, sliding vane, and liquid piston. For all these, the discussion of compressor work and compressor efficiency applies just as well as the above-mentioned types. Descriptions of the mechanical arrangements of these can be found in texts on pumps and compressors [2]. [Pg.345]
