The Citrovorum Factor is a growth factor for Leuconoatoc citro-vorum. It may be the active form of folic acid. Synthetic citrovorum factor (folinic acid, leucovorin) is formyl tetrahydrofolic acid. Conversion of pteroylglutamic acid to the citrovorum factor is believed to be helped in vitro and in vivo by ascorbic acid (see pages 186 and 188). [Pg.184]

Fluorocitrate is an analogue of dtrate. A sulfamide is an analogue of para-aminobenzoic acid which is one of the three constituents of the growth factor, pteroylglutamic acid. In the presence of an adequate concentration of a sulfamide, the growth of many species of bacteria is inhibited, but this inhibition may be eliminated by an excess of p-aminobenzoic acid (see p. 443). [Pg.142]

Folic Acid, pteroylglutamate, is a derivative of pteridine for chemical properties see Chapt. VI-5. [Pg.382]
