Protonic salts molar conductivity

It follows that the increase in molar conductivity with increasing salt extraction is a result of the increase of the protonated state (II) and related to a rapid transfer of protons from R3NH to R3N during thermal micelle-micelle collisions. The protons are driven by a local electric field that is codirectional with the external field. [Pg.26]

Table 2 lists the molar conductivity values at 25°C and the activation energy obtained from the temperature dependence of a PAMPS solution and a PAMPS gel. The PAMPS gel that contains mobile protons has much greater molar conductivity than the gel with alkali metal salts [3]. This is due to the proton conductance mechanism in which protons transfer through hydrogen bonds. [Pg.747]

Chromatography by ion exchange on a sulfonated poly(styrene-co-divinyl benzene) phase has been proposed as a replacement for titrimetry.57 Eluted by a dilute solution of a neutral salt such as sodium ethanesulfonate, the conductance of the protons can be measured in the absence of a suppressor from sub-millimolar to molar concentration. The response factors of mono-, di-, and trichloroacetic acid and of o-phthalic acid were large and essentially equivalent to ethanesulfonic acid, while the response factor of acetic acid was far smaller. A syringe pump has generated pressures as high as 72,000 psi (5000 bar) in a capillary column packed with 1 p particles, generating a fraction capacity of 300 peaks in 30 minutes.58... [Pg.64]

A series of nonstoichiometric protic mixtures were made from various molar ratios of 2,5-diphenyl-l,3,4-oxadiazole (DOD) with HTFSI and with a polymerizable version of the base. The stoichiometric salt had a melting point of 80 °C and a decomposition temperature of 200 °C, and because of features in tte DSC traces that corresponded to the acid and the base, it was conclnded that there was incomplete proton transfer. The highest ionic condnctivity was for the salt with DOD/HTFSI of 8 2. When a polymerizable version of the base was used, the resulting polymeric systems had veiy low ionic conductivity. [Pg.28]
