Properties and Preparation of Azidomethane

Azidomethane is a colorless and transparent oily liquid with aromatic odor. Its specific density is a littie larger than that of nitromethane. [Pg.277]

The molecular formula of azidomethane CH3N3 The chemical strucmre of azidomethane  [Pg.277]

Certain amount of sodium azide was dissolved into water. Later, bromomethane and methanol were added, then the mixture was heated to 65—90 °C and relaxed for 2—3 h. In the reaction, colorless oily production was gradually produced in refluxing. After reaction, D1 water was used to wash the organic layer several times. Later dichloromethane was used to wash and separate the organic and aqueous layers. Dichloromethane was evaporated, and the colorless oily liquid product was collected at 40-41 °C under reduced pressure. The yield of adizomethane is 87.6 %. [Pg.278]
