Procedures for Batch Adsorption Study

Batch adsorption may be achieved using the following laboratory procedure  [Pg.133]

Grind 20 g of the carbon until all of the carbon passes a 325-mesh screen. [Pg.133]

Set up at least five flasks and add a selected carbon dosage to each flask. [Pg.133]

Analyze the wastewater to be treated for the initial concentration of the contaminant to be removed. Add a given amount (100-500 mL) of wastewater to each flask and place the flasks on a gyratory shaker table. [Pg.133]

After shaking, filter the samples to remove the carbon and analyze the filtrate for the contaminant remaining in solution. The amount of contaminant adsorbed by the carbon can then be determined. [Pg.133]
