Procedure 7-2 Design of Partial Ring Stiffeners

Ml = longitudinal moment, in.-lb M = internal bending moment, shell, in.-lb Fb = allowable bending stress, psi fb = bending stress, psi 

Ey = modulus of elasticity of vessel shell at design temperature, psi 

Single load. Determine concentrated load on each stiffener depending on whether there is a radial load or moment loading, single or double stiffener. 

Assume stiffener size and calculate Z and I. Proposed size
