Principal stresses example calculation

In the example given, the constitutive equation used is a multimode Phan Tien Tanner (PTT). It requires the evaluation of both linear and nonlinear material-response parameters. The linear parameters are a sufficient number of the discrete relaxation spectrum 2, and r]i pairs, which are evaluated from small-strain dynamic experiments. The values of the two nonlinear material-response parameters are evaluated as follows. Three semiarbitrary initial values of the two nonlinear parameters are chosen and the principal normal stress difference field is calculated for each of them using the equation of motion and the multimode PTT. They are compared at each field point (i, j) to the experimentally obtained normal stress difference and used in the following cost function F... [Pg.131]

There exists periodically in the chain a double bond. In the process of vulcanization crosslinks are formed between sulphur and the highly reactive double bonds in the polyisoprene chain. As a result the mechanical behavior of the network material system can be calculated using the present formulation. For simplicity neglecting the effort of the side chains only the principal rubber chain and the crosslink need be considered in the analysis. For comparison the one-dimensional stress-strain relation in tension is calculated as this type of force-extension relationships is widely reported in the literature. For example, the shape of the force extension curve (conventional or nominal stress-strain relationship) for pure-gum GR-S rubber at 2 C is somewhat like a reversed "S" as reported inC 5 J. [Pg.402]

The problem of calculation of the stress-strain state in multilayer and reinforced structural elements is becoming ever more actual The complexity of this problem is explicable by the principal necessity of the structural specifics of such structures to be taken into account Namely, the mechanical inhomogeneity of reinforced materials and the presence of layers having different mechanical characteristics in laminates These specific features require that special approaches to the numerical analysis should be elaborated Thus, for example, when solving the problem by the theory of elasticity in terms of displacements using the finite-element or finite-difference methods, certain additional procedures for... [Pg.658]
