The determination of drugs in the human body is a matter of great importance in drug therapy and in the detection and prevention of drug abuse. The diversity of drugs and their typical low levels of concentration in body fluids make it difficult to identify them and measure their concentrations. Fortunately, it is possible to harness one of nature s own mechanisms, the immune response, to determine quantitatively a variety of therapeutic and illicit drugs.

If all of our warnings and cautions sound discouiaging, it is because the treatment of drug abuse is discouraging. For that reason we stress prevention as the better course and come back to solid, truthful information about drugs as the single best measure.
