Pressure dependence bulk modulus, metals

CeNi and LaNi as a function of temperature at ambient pressure. LaNi was used as a reference material because La has no 4f electrons, ay is found to have a maximum at 92 K with a value of 70 x 10 The temperature dependence of is similar to that of ay/ in which the contribution of CEF splitting may be the origin of the maximum. It should be noted that the magnitude of ay is larger than that of normal metals over a wide temperature range. This reflects the fact that bulk modulus of CeNi ( 26 GPa at room temperature) is also extremely small. The ay of LaNi increases smoothly with temperature like in normal metals. [Pg.78]
