Preparation of oligoethylsiloxanes

Oligoethylsiloxanes are a mixture of liquid products, mainly of the linear structure  

Oligoethylsiloxanes are obtained by the hydrolytic condensation of ethylethoxysilanes synthesised by Grignard reaction, or by the hydrolytic condensation of diethyldichlorosilane with subsequent catalytic regrouping of the hydrolysis products. 

The production of oligoethylsiloxanes by the hydrolytic condensation of ethylethoxysilanes is described below. 

The synthesis of ethylethoxysilanes takes place when ethylchloride interacts with tetraethoxysilane in the presence of magnesium in toluene medium  

It is accompanied by a secondary reaction C2H5MgCI + C2H5CI ----------- C4H10 + MgCI2
