4 Peak Function Type for the Curve-Fitting Procedure 

The determination of Vj and Aj by curve fitting requires three possible types of peak functions (Lorentzian, Gaussian or mixed Gaussian, and Lorentzian peak function). To determine the best one, our method for orientation obtains v, and Aj of the peak at 1417 cm- in DL-isoleucine measured as an NLC suspension. Dependencies of versus Lorentzian to Gaussian peak function ratios in percentages are presented. The minimal value of 0.00073 is obtained at a 50 50% LorentzianiGaussian peak function ratio. 

To determine the number of scans in the CS-NLC measurements, A x values of series of peaks versus the number of scans are obtained and a saturation in all the cases is established after 140 to 150 scans. Therefore, the standard number of scans in all IR-LD measurements using the presented method is 150.
