In a preliminary communication, the dihydroxy-1,2,4-triazine derivative 163 has been assigned the structure shown on the basis of infrared evidence. The pK and ultraviolet and infrared spectral data support the formulation of 6-azauracil (164) as a dioxo compound. 

The 15N content was indeed lower when the experiment was performed This result justified the publication of a preliminary communication (Bergstrom et al., 1974). Later work (Hashida et al., 1978 Szele and Zollinger, 1978a Maurer et al., 1979) involving sophisticated statistical treatments suggested that, in a weakly nucleophilic solvent such as trifluoroethanol, the phenyl cation is formed in two steps and not in one, as in mechanism B (see Scheme 8-4 in Sec. 8.3), the first intermediate being a tight ion-molecule pair.

During the last year several new journals have appeared, in which papers of interest to organometallic chemists are published. Apart from thtjournal of Coordination Chemistry, which deals with general aspects of the chemistry of complex compounds, vehicles for preliminary communication in the area of synthesis and structure determination have commenced. Yoshino reports a novel and general method for the C-3 acylation of indoles with acyl chlorides in the presence of dialkylaluminium chloride which obviates the need for prior N-protection .
