In peptide syntheses, where partial racemization of the chiral a-carbon centers is a serious problem, the application of 1-hydroxy-1 H-benzotriazole ( HBT") and DCC has been very successful in increasing yields and decreasing racemization (W. Kdnig, 1970 G.C. Windridge, 1971 H.R. Bosshard, 1973), l-(Acyloxy)-lif-benzotriazoles or l-acyl-17f-benzo-triazole 3-oxides are formed as reactive intermediates. If carboxylic or phosphoric esters are to be formed from the acids and alcohols using DCC, 4-(pyrrolidin-l -yl)pyridine ( PPY A. Hassner, 1978 K.M. Patel, 1979) and HBT are efficient catalysts even with tert-alkyl, choles-teryl, aryl, and other unreactive alcohols as well as with highly bulky or labile acids. [Pg.145]

Peel tests are accompHshed using many different geometries. In the simplest peel test, the T-peel test, the adherends are identical in size, shape, and thickness. Adherends are attached at thek ends to a tensile testing machine and then separated in a "T" fashion. The temperature of the test, as well as the rate of adherend separation, is specified. The force requked to open the adhesive bond is measured and the results are reported in terms of newtons per meter (pounds per inch, ppi). There are many other peel test configurations, each dependent upon the adhesive appHcation. Such tests are well described in the ASTM hterature. [Pg.232]

Neuropeptide Y [82785 5-3] (NPY) (255) is a 36-amiao acid peptide that is a member of a peptide family including peptide YY (PYY) [81858-94-8, 106338-42-5] (256) and pancreatic polypeptide (PPY) [59763-91-6] (257). In the periphery, NPY is present in most sympathetic nerve fibers, particulady around blood vessels and also in noradrenergic perivascular and selected parasympathetic nerves (66). Neurons containing NPY-like immunoreactivity ate abundant in the central nervous system, particulady in limbic stmctures. Coexistence with somatostatin and NADPH-diaphorase, an enzyme associated with NO synthesis, is common in the cortex and striatum. [Pg.563]

Blending with LLDPE is used to upgrade the properties and improve the processing of conventional LDPE. For example, by adding 25% of ethylene—1-butene LLDPE resin with I2 of 0.5 to conventional LDPE resin, the dart impact strength of 75 p.m film is increased from 490 to 560 g, the puncture strength from 41 to 49 J /mm (770-920 ft-lbf/in.), and the tear strength from 43 to 63 N /mm (246—360 ppi).
