Posttranslational biochemical processes

The biochemical defect in abetalipoproteinemic patients has been recently investigated by gene expression in leukocytes and liver ceUs [18]. Interestingly, polyadeny-lated hepatic Apo B-lOO messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) is normahy expressed, levels being increased sixfold in comparison with control hepatic Apo B-lOO mRNA levels. These findings are consistent with a posttranslational error in Apo B processing or secretion. [Pg.72]
