Possible Mechanisms of Effect

Given its nutrient rich nature, the compositional complexities of milk means the effects on health and disease are not likely to be due to a single mechanism (Elwood et al., 2008), but several hypotheses have been put forward. Table 1.3 presents possible mechanisms that may be responsible for association between dairy food and weight management. These mechanisms are discussed in the following sections.
