Polyriboinosinic-polyribocytidylic

Polyriboinosinic-polyribocytidylic acid augmented resistance of thioglycolate-elicited inflammatory macrophages to infection with herpes simplex virus type 1 (Pyo et al. 1991). Polyriboino-sinic-polyribocytidylic acid antiviral activity was completely abrogated by antibodies to interferon-P whereas antibodies to other interferons or to other cytokines had no effect. 

Initial clinical trials in cancer patients of polyriboinosinic-polyribocytidylic acid stabilized with poly-L-lysine, in carboxy-methylcellulose [poly(ICLC)], a highly effective interferon inducer, Cancer Res, 39 1645. 

Double-stranded nucleic acid polymers have been demonstrated to be highly effective interferon inducers. Polyriboinosinic-polyribocytidylic acid complexes, but not the individual homopolymers, induced interferon in a number of cell lines as was the case for a synthetic double-stranded...
