The facile preparation and favourable properties of polypyrrole films clcctrochcmically polymerized with tenaethylammonium j-toluenesulphonate in acetonitrile are described by Wynne and Street [227]. Their x-ray diffraction patterns show the double-peak nature of the diffraction niaximuni, suggesting improved local order. The authors do not detect anisotropy, nor does a moderate stretching of their samples l/ln = 1-4) seem to induce orientation. 

Samuelson and Druy [100] reported that the counterion has an important role in the decay of electrical conductivity of polypyrrole. For polypyrrole with p-toluenesulphonate counter-ion, the decay in electrical conductivity with time in air showed first-order kinetics... 

Polypyrroles doped with perchlorate or with p-toluenesulphonate show high resistance to exposure to UV radiation for up to 90 h.
