Polypropylene oxide tacticity

The second part of this symposium, conducted jointly by the Division of Rubber Chemistry and the Division of Polymer Chemistry of the American Chemical Society, was devoted to methods for measuring the tacticity and the kinetics of polymerization of a variety of materials such as the higher aldehydes, polypropylene oxide, and 4-methylpentene-l. High resolution nuclear magnetic resonance has been particularly valuable in characterizing the structures of polyacetaldehyde and polyisopropyl acrylate. [Pg.160]

Description of Polymers. A wide variety of crystalline poly-epichlorohydrins were examined in this study. Some typical examples are given in Table 1. All the polymers were prepared from racemic monomer, but some of them were prepared using initiators of the type previously reported to give partially optically active polymers 2-b). The polymers were shown to be iso-tactic by comparison of the observed d-spacings with those reported in the literature for crystalline isotactic polyepichloro-hydrin (, 9). Also included in Table 1 for comparison are some data on polypropylene oxides prepared with different initiators. [Pg.72]
