Polyolefin heat control

Heat control is one of the most important process characteristics in polyolefin production. The calculation in the example illustrates the exothermic heat produced, during the polymerization process in comparison to polystyrene. [Pg.29]

Hydrocarbons oxidize to give a complex mixture of products which include hydroperoxides, alcohols, ketones, acids, esters, etc. (1). Polyolefins similarly can be oxidized by heat, radiation or mechano-initiated processes. The precise identification and quantification of these oxidation products are essential for the complete understanding and control of these destructive reactions. Conventional methods for the identification of oxidation products include iodome-... [Pg.376]

New polymer structures allow the control of processability and final characteristics. For example, Mitsui is launching nanostructured metallocene alpha-olefins that have a crystallite size of the order of nanometres instead of microns as for conventional metallocene polyolefins. This yields a better balance of transparency, heat resistance, flexibility and elasticity characteristics. Targeted applications are automotive interior trim, packaging film, construction materials, protective films for electronic and optical parts, sealing products and as polymer modifiers. [Pg.843]

Uses Polyrner modifier used with all polyolefins for specialty tilms/lami-nates, fabric coatings, medical films, disposable gloves Features Provides soft, rubber films, exc. toughness, broad heat seal range, controlled flexibility... [Pg.351]
