Polymer structures storage

Such complex structure-based representations pose no problems for more recent systems such as MDL s ISIS 2.1 program with features designed expressly for polymer structure storage and retrieval. [Pg.2137]

Macromolecules are very much like the crystalline powder just described. A few polymers, usually biologically-active natural products like enzymes or proteins, have very specific structure, mass, repeat-unit sequence, and conformational architecture. These biopolymers are the exceptions in polymer chemistry, however. Most synthetic polymers or storage biopolymers are collections of molecules with different numbers of repeat units in the molecule. The individual molecules of a polymer sample thus differ in chain length, mass, and size. The molecular weight of a polymer sample is thus a distributed quantity. This variation in molecular weight amongst molecules in a sample has important implications, since, just as in the crystal dimension example, physical and chemical properties of the polymer sample depend on different measures of the molecular weight distribution. [Pg.66]

Storage of Polymer Structures. CAS has developed comprehensive sets of nomenclature rules and structure conventions that have become standards in the world of chemical literature (see Chemical Abstracts Service Information System). CAS selects polymers for indexing according to a set of rules (5). The Registry File records are created from chemical information published in books, patents, dissertations, scientific journal articles, etc. [Pg.7835]

Abstract Porous coordination polymers prepared via the self-assembly of metal ions and organic ligands have attracted considerable attention because of their potential applications in storage, separation, and catalytic systems. The use of their regulated nanochannels as the fields for polymerization can allow for precise control over the polymer structures. In addition, the confinement of polymer chains in the nanochannels allows for the formation of unique nanocomposites that show unprecedented and interesting dynamic, optical, and electronic properties. [Pg.41]

In known products [6-9], zinc ions are coordinated with oxygen atoms at the tops of a distorted octahedron and nitrogen atoms do not participate in coordinating a zinc ion. These inhibitors have certain drawbacks, namely, they tend to the formation of polymer structures and as a result, they are poorly dissolved in water and they have insufficiently high thermodynamic stability during storage and usage. [Pg.290]

Barriers associated with the utilization of agricultural infrastructure for production are large, but not necessarily insurmountable. Identity preservation of PHA crops needs to be provided within the infrastructure and could potentially be quite costly. Transportation and storage infrastructure must be appropriate for identity preservation as well as polymer quality preservation. Depending on the crop, climate changes could also potentially impact yield and polymer structure. And finally there is the political barrier of managing public opinion on biotech crops. All of these issues are outside the scope of this analysis, but could be more important than the technical issues when considering overall production costs. [Pg.260]

A similar order was observed in the storage modulus and CED. Gas solubility coefficients of the five polyimide films were essentially independent of polymer structure and similar to those of the polyimide films in our previous study(8). [Pg.198]
