Polymer electrets chemically modified

In order to corroborate the above assumption we identified additives present in the commercial material and subsequently compounded these additives into purified PEI (denoted as PEIpur) to prove their function as electret-enhancing additives. We also investigated the influence of water and the influence of physical aging on the electret performance of PEI electret films. In addition, another approach to improve the charge storage capability of PEI by chemically modifying the polymer itself will be presented.

The development with respeet to polymer electret materials has been active over the past years. A number of modified conventional polymer eleetret materials with superior electret properties have been reported. The improvement of electret properties were aehieved by ineorporating proper additives, by blending different polymer eompounds, by physieal aging, and by modifying with certain chemicals.
