Polymer-drug conjugates Subject

Similar to oxidations, we have not been able to fmd data on conjugation reactions with polymers as substrates. Nevertheless, both mechanisms of drug metabolism must be studied with polymers if the project of developing polymer-carried drugs is to be taken seriously. It is important to know whether the drug, which is coupled to the polymer, is subject to the kind of reactions known with the free drug. As most, if not all of these reactions proceed only within the cytoplasma, this study can also reveal whether a polymer can penetrate mto the true interior of the cell.
