Polydentate ligand metal polymers

No exchange may take place when the metal is coordinatively unsaturated. Excluding metal powders, treated in 5.8.2.12.1, there are many salts that easily add CO. The coordinative unsaturation may be hidden, the metal salt being solvated by solvent molecules or existing as a dimer, polymer or cluster. The metal salt or complex can also contain bidentate or polydentate ligands or anions that leave a coordination site free for CO addition. [Pg.235]

The past seven years have seen significant advances in the preparation of coordination polymers. A vast assortment of conjugated polymers has been prepared that incorporate bpy, phen, and other polydentate ligands. Complexation to metal ions affords new polymeric materials with properties modified by the presence of the transition metal. [Pg.196]

To augment this review on one-dimensional systems, a brief survey of materials which possess a polymeric structure in the solid state is included. These polymeric materials do not have metal-metal bonds and are polymeric due to the polydentate character of the ligands. As is the case with cross-linked polymers, the solubility of the higher molecular weight members is quite low. For this reason the polymers are poorly characterized in terms of the molecular... [Pg.114]
