Polycarbosilanes parent

Summary Polycarbosilanes and crosslinked polycarbosilanes were obtained by using a polyhydrosilylation reaction between difuncional vinylsilanes and difunctionai hydrosilanes or in the intermolecular hydrosilylation of monomers containing an Si-H bond and an SiCH=CH2 group in the same molecule. Poly(silylene-ethylenearylene)s were obtained with the highest molecular weight. They seem to be potential parent substances for future applications as a membrane materials. [Pg.641]

In order to better understand the substitution patterns of the reaction of naphthalene-substituted polycarbosilanes with HFA, we examined the reaction of the model compound 2-ethylnaphthalene with HFA under similar reaction conditions as for the functionalization of the naphthalene-substituted parent polycarbosilanes. The reaction of 2-ethylnaphthaIene with excess HFA in the presence of catalytic amounts of AICI3 resulted in the formation of... [Pg.77]

Rigid-rod polymers interrupted by silieon atoms are another group of polymers that belong to the family of polycarbosilanes (Fig. 7.35) [110]. These type of polymers are of interest because the introduction of the silicon units in the rigid-rod structure allows the polymer to become more soluble apart from modifying the electronic properties of the parent polymers. [Pg.288]
