Aggregation of proteins into oligo- and poly-globular complexes. In this case the opposite situation will occur, i.e., a shift of the density of bands towards the high-molecular weight zone (start).

The inter-relationship between colloid and polymer chemistries is completed by colloidal polymer particles. The formation of 50-nm-diameter, 100- to 200-nm-long polyaniline fibrils in a poly(acrylic acid)-template-guided polymerization, similar in many ways to those produced from polymerized SUVs (see above), provides a recent example of polymer colloids [449], The use of poly(styenesulfonic acid) as a template yielded globular polyaniline particles which were found to be quite different morphologically from those observed in the regular chemical synthesis of polyaniline [449]. 

The conductivity of poly(acrylic acid) and polyfmethacrylic acid) has been measured as a function of orientation (65). Little effect is seen. It is suggested that orientation effects depend upon the nature of the polymer chain-like molecules show a slight decrease in conductivity on orientation, whereas that of globular molecules increases. 

Poly(p-phenylene), synthesised electrochemically, is generally reported as a smooth film, although published micrographs indicate a fused globular morphology157 167>. 

The effect of phase transitions on ESPT of 2NpOH in poly (/V-isopropy-lacryamide) (PNIPAM) covalently labeled with 2NpOH has been studied [203], The 2NpOH undergoes ESPT at a rate that is dependent on water concentration in aqueous solvent systems. Upon conversion to the phase-separated state in naph-thol-labeled PNIPAM, the efficiency of ESPT diminished, consistent with the formation of a globular phase in which exposure of the probe molecules to the water phase was reduced.
