Poly enzymatic transesterification

Ester-thioester copolymers were enzymatically synthesized (Scheme 7). ° The lipase CA-catalyzed copolymerization of e-caprolactone with 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid or 3-mercaptopropionic acid under reduced pressure produced the polymer with molecular weight higher than 2 x 10". The thioester unit of the resulting polymer was lower than the feed ratio. The transesterification between poly(8-caprolactone) and 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid or 3-mercaptopropionic acid also took place by lipase CA catalyst. Recently, aliphatic polythioesters were synthesized by lipase CA-catalyzed polycondensation of diesters with 1,6-hexanedithiol. ... [Pg.218]

The lipase-catalyzed copolymerization of lactones often afforded random copolyesters, despite the different enzymatic polymerizability of lactones in some cases.165 167g-174 So far, the random copolymers were enzymatically obtained from combinations of d-VL-e-CL, e-CL-OL, e-CL-PDL, and OL-DDL. The formation of the random copolymers suggests that the intermolecular transesterifications of the polyesters frequently took place during the copolymerization. By utilizing this specific lipase catalysis, random ester copolymers were synthesized by the lipase-catalyzed polymerization of macrolides in the presence of poly-(e-CL).175... [Pg.267]

The chemo-enzymatic synthesis of polyurethanes has been reported through the inter-esterification of castor oil and linseed oil at ambient temperature, using lipase as a catalyst and foUowed by treatment of the inter-esterified product with TDI. In the first step, partial esters are prepared by transesterification of soybean and linseed oils with n-butanol in the presence of lipozyme (a lipase) as the catalyst. The partial esters are then reacted with different diisocyanates to obtain a series of polyurethanes. The reaction of polyhydroxy compounds (transesterification reaction between different compositions of castor oil and glycolysed poly(ethylene terephthalate)) with diisocyanates offers a polyurethane network for new insulating coating applications. ... [Pg.164]
