Polarized neutron scattering

The internal iron (III) ions are octahedrally coordinated by the two oxides and four hydroxo bridges. The outer iron(III) ions coordinate three nitrogens and three hydroxyls. Spin polarized neutron scattering showed that all Fe ions have a spin 5/2, six spins up and two down [23]. This rationalizes the S = 10 spin ground state that is in agreement with magnetization measurements. [Pg.150]

Changes in the lEC through hydrogen loading are typically observed by the influence of, for example, the critical temperature or the disappearance or appearance of AFM scattering as in, for example polarized neutron scattering experiments. [Pg.269]

Comparison between the results of polarized neutron scattering experiments (Exp.) and self-consistent electronic band structure calculations including all Hund s rules (Calc.). All units except C2 and fijfis are in jij. The experimental values for NpCoj marked by an asterisk, have been scaled (see original work,... [Pg.661]

However, it seems that possibilities of this model to explain some of the experimental results were not fully explored. Also, this model shows some weaknesses. First, it predicts a value of Tc in DKDP (310 K) that is higher than the experimental value (229 K). Second, the calculated rate of the proton transfer in the PE phase is too low to explain the width of the CP in the neutron scattering spectra of KDP [62]. Third, and most important, because the model assumes that dipoles of PO4 groups lie along the c-axis, it cannot to explain static and dynamic properties of the transverse polarization fluctuations, whose importance in the phase transition mechanism has been supported by several experimental results [8,20,28,31-33]. [Pg.170]
