PLUTO program

The PLUTO program is rewritten from the PLUTO (1978) package for the production of crystal and molecular illustrations. 

Using liquid hydrogen as an aircraft fuel is not a new concept. Indeed, the first use of liquid hydrogen for aircraft use took place in the early 1950s at the then NACA facilities at Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, liquid hydrogen experiments took place at the Nevada Test Site on nuclear-powered aircraft, called the Pluto program.

In this way we have, quite routinely, interfaces to vector plotting (ORTEP, PLUTO and MONSTER), raster plotting (COLOR and UNIRAS), conventional normal coordinate analysis with optimisation (MOLVIB), and ab initio calculations (IBMOL-6 and GAUSSIAN-70). ORTEP, PLUTO, IBMOL-6 and GAUSSIAN-70 are so well-known that they probably need no more mention here MONSTER, which is the property of Mr. Per Jacobi, Brede 50, DK-2800 Lyngby, is essentially a program for viewing... 

Measurements were made at a wavelength, A, of 6 A using the multidetector SANS spectrometer installed in the PLUTO reactor at Harwell Laboratory (ref. 9). Data were analysed using standard programs to normalise for detector efficiency, and correct for sample self-absorption and background contributions.
