Platinum II Complexes of Dimethyl Sulfide

Submitted by GEOFFREY S. HILL, MICHAEL J. IRWIN, CHRISTOPHER J. LEVY, LOUIS M. RENDINA, and RICHARD J. PUDDEPHATT  [Pg.149]

Herein we present high-yielding syntheses of cis/trcws-[PtCl2(SMe2)2], [PtMe2(/r-SMe2)]2 and trans-[PtClMe(SMe2)2]. [Pg.149]

K2 [PtCU] + 2SMe2 cis/trans-[PtCl2(SMe2)2] + 2KC1 [Pg.149]

The product is air- and moisture-stable for long periods of time. The chemistry of the complexes is reported elsewhere. The H-NMR spectrum of cis/trans-[PtCl2(SMe2)2] (300 MHz, CDCls) shows singlets at 5 = 2.56 [ 7(PtH) = 49.5 Hz] and 2.44 [ J(PtH) = 41.5 Hz] for the protons of the SMe2 ligands of the cis and trans isomers, respectively.  [Pg.150]

This is a modified and improved version of that given in the literature. All operations should be performed using standard Schlenk techniques under an atmosphere of dry N2. All Schlenk glassware should be flame dried under vacuum prior to use. All glassware must be cooled to 0°C. [Pg.150]

A 500-mL Schlenk tube equipped with a magnetic stirring bar and rubber septum is charged with finely powdered cis/trans-[PtCl2(SMe2)2] (3.90 g, 11.0 mmol) suspended in dry diethyl ether (160 mL). The ratio of the cis/trans isomers is not important. Indeed either pure cis- or trans-[PtCl2(SMe2)2] [Pg.150]

The dialkyl complexes of platinum (II) with coordinating dimethyl sulfide typically like Pt(SMe2)2Me2 and Pt2Me4(/x-SMe2)2 have been known for certain period, and now... [Pg.3902]

A modification of the method of Goggin et al. for the preparation of chlorotris (dimethyl sulfide) platinum (II) complexes is described in this synthesis. [Pg.126]
