A solution of 20.8 g. (55 mmoles) of potassium tetrachloro-platinate(II) in 100 ml. of water is prepared in a 250-ml. suction flask with a nitrogen flow through the sidearm to provide an inert atmosphere. (The procedures work equally well at halfscale.) Triethylphosphine (15 ml., 100 mmoles) is added all at once and the mixture is stirred with a magnetic stirrer at room temperature for one hour. A pink-tan precipitate of tetrakis-(triethylphosphine)platinum(II)tetrachloroplatinate(II) forms. The mixture is heated on a steam bath for one hour. The pink salt dissolves, and a layer of pale yellow dichloro-bis(triethyl-phosphine)platinum forms on the liquid. The solid is filtered, washed with water, crushed in a mortar, and dried under... [Pg.27]

Some of the results that have been obtained in this field have already been reviewed and before presenting the more recent results some of the most noteworthy features relating to these Pt-Ag complexes will be discussed. To illustrate this part we have chosen the complexes obtained by reacting the tetrakis-pentafluorophenylplatinate or the cw-7 /5-pentafluorophenylbispentachlorophenyl-platinate anions with tetrahydrothiophene silver perchlorate in 1 1 molar ratio (Eq. U)). The resulting complexes which are presented in Figs. 2 and 3, contain a donor-... [Pg.513]

Tetrakis(/-butylethynyl)platinate reacts with [Rh(cod)(acetone)2] and then with [Rh(/t-Cl)(cod)]2 to form PtRh2 746 and PtRh4 complexes 747, respectively. The platinum center retains the -coordination of the alkynyl ligands during the reaction (Scheme 98). [Pg.548]
