Plate-type MMRs

In plate-type MMRs, the microchannels for catalyst deposition are fabricated on a porous silicon or stainless steel (i.e., SS 316L) plate, while the membrane layer is deposited on the back of the plate to perform separation (membrane/catalyst plate) as shown in Figure 8.1(a). A distinctive feature of microreactors is the microchannels for fluid flow. MMRs are mainly characteristic of such microchannels with anchored catalysts for reactions and miniature membranes to perform separation, which are formed on the porous ceramic or metal supports.
