The extraction of amino acids (Fig. 6,8) from medical plant extracts is again the use of cation exchange to remove organic bases (amino acids) from extracts of plants. Homogenize and blend the plant material with methanol. Filter the extract and evaporate to dryness. Reconstitute the sample with 10% methanol/water and filter. The extract is prepared for cation exchange. 

More evidence is available for the second (D- A) than for the first (N D) occurrence. As mentioned above, it has long been known that freezing of plant homogenates may precipitate proteins. This precipitation is due to protein aggregation and has been explained by the freeze-induced increase in concentration of salt or of H+ ions. Whether or not a similar precipitation occurs within the freeze-damaged cell has not been established. By use of disc gel electrophoresis, however, it has been shown that both extracellular freezing (12) and evaporative dehydration...

The production processes of natural green notes based on plant homogenates as enzyme sources are cheap, but they are limited by low enzyme concentration and specificity. Recombinant enzymes expressed in yeast or bacteria showed some promise, because they are characterized by very specific enzyme activities, and they avoid the generation of high amounts of biomass.
