Planar raft cluster

In 1980, the synthesis and characterization of the two congeners [Fe3Pt3(CO)15]2 - was reported [146]. The paramagnetic monoanion is shown in Fig. 76. The cluster core consists of a planar raft metallic array, in which the platinum atoms form an equilateral triangle, each edge of which is bridged by one Fe(CO)4 unit. 

These novel hexanuclear species display an unprecedented planar rhomboidal metal array consisting of two intact Re2 units and two Cu+ cations. These clusters can be considered as raft-like aggregates and therefore represent a geometric analogue of a metal surface.307...
