Pitfalls to the Process

In the beginning stages, the major concern in an organization deals with the trust factor. Employees will question why a particular approach is being offered and may question the sincerity of the effort. 

A real pitfall in this phase deals with sustaining the effectiveness of the initiated safety activities. When an organization fails to maintain the safety efforts, the setback could be worse than doing nothing employees and management alike will be less likely to be made a fool of twice. Mistakes will be made—and that is acceptable, if one openly acknowledges those mistakes and takes the necessary steps to correct and prevent their recurrence.
