Pitching rate

Further experimental and theoretical investigations are being done to study in greater detail the possible influence of other key process parameters, pitching rate, pressure, wort aeration, on the fermentation process and the final beer quality. 

At about 72.20 s the lower strut linking the S RB and the external tank was severed or pulled away from the weakened hydrogen tank permitting the right SRB to rotate around the upper attachment strut. This rotation is indicated by divergent yaw and pitch rates between the left and right SRBs. 

A helix is characterized by a helical axis, a screw sense (i.e., chirality), and pitch (rate of axially linear to angular movement). Ideally, the axis is a straight hne. and the two kinds of tnotion are circular and linear at a constant distance r from the axis, producing a cylindrical (constant radius), palindromic (constant pitch) helix. A helix may be right-handed (designated P) or left-handed (Af) according to whether the rotation is clockwise or anticlockwise when the helix is considered to wind from the viewer s eye toward a point distant from the viewer. 

The procedures commonly employed to measure the growth of cultures may also be used to estimate the amount of yeast in a sample. In brewing practice, such measurements are used to control, for example, the pitching rate of a fermenter, or estimate the amount of yeast in suspension during conditioning.

Figure 4.1.31 illustrates the operation of the suspension system. The up-down acceleration and pitching rate were monitored when the vehicle was driven on a rough road. When the TEMS system was used (top figure), the up-down acceleration was suppressed to as small as the condition fixed at soft , providing comfort. At the same time, the pitching rate was also suppressed to as small as the condition fixed at hard , leading to better controllability.
