1 - piperidin reaction with aqueous hydrogen

In the presence of piperidine or cyanide in non-aqueous media, iron(m), tetra-phenylporphyrin (TPP) undergoes a one-electron redox step. Piperidine is oxidized to an alkylamine radical while in DMSO the reaction rate with cyanide depends on the cyanide concentration and is inhibited by small amounts of water. Water forms a strong hydrogen bond with cyanide co-ordinated to iron(ni) porphyrins, thus making the cyanide more difficult to oxidize. The intramolecular oxidation step is followed by reaction of the product with CN ... [Pg.55]
