Effective July 1973, the U.S. Army Armament.Command was established as a Major Command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, located at Rock Island, Illinois. Effective 30 September 1973, the U.S. Army Munitions Command and the U.S. Army Weapons Command were disestablished and merged into the operational command of this new Armament Command.
