Physical Exhaustion

Fatigue to the point of exhaustion almost always accompanies tardive disorders of any severity. Patients often become exhausted by the movements, by the effort to hide them, and by increased difficulty associated with carrying out daily activities. The primary impact on the brain itself may also produce fatigue. Although the disorders tend to disappear in sleep, they can make it difficult to fall asleep, adding to the exhaustion. Having to contend with the physical pain associated with tardive akathisia (inner torment) and with tardive dystonia (muscle spasms) can also wear a person down.

Cocaine is so rewarding that its users prefer it to sex, food, and water, thus overriding basic survival drives. In experiments, laboratory animals will self-administer cocaine to the point of severe toxicity, physical exhaustion, and even death. Many human users support their habit by selling cocaine or by stealing from friends and coworkers. Even Sigmund Freud, who wrote a scholarly and quite accurate treatise on cocaine s effects in Uber Coca (1884), got carried away and claimed his use of the drug cured his morphine addiction. In fact, it simply became a second addiction for him. 

It has long been accepted that amphetamines produce beneficial effects in athletic endeavors (146), and amphetamines also have been shown to be particularly beneficial in the performance of activities that are physically exhausting (100). 

Contraindications If taken too close to bedtime may cause insomnia. If taken while physically exhausted hypotensive properties may be sharply exaggerated. Should not be used by persons with ailment or injury of kidneys, liver, or heart, or inclination towards diabetes or hypoglycemia. MAO inhibitor (see list of dangerous combinations). Anxiety may also occur. Sodium amobarbitol or Librium alleviate this. Imipramine may worsen it. Nauseau may occur from ingestion of yohimbine, but is not likely when snuffed. Can result in heart palpitations, severe blood pressure drop, and breathing difficulties if taken within 48 hours of having taken any amphetamine, even Dexamyl type diet pill.

Although bailers can be used in most situations for all classes of organic materials, they do have one major disadvantage. When a large volume of water has to be removed (i.e., flushing a well), use of a bailer can be very time-consuming and physically exhausting. 

It s hard to think clearly when you re mentally and physically exhausted. When people report higher levels of fatigue, they ll have poorer performance, such as with word recall, processing speed, and divided attention, says Dr. Ferguson.
