This chapter reviews theories proposed to describe photogeneration in organic solids. Experimental results are described in the following chapter. 

TCNQ doped ZnTPP, both direct and indirect processes appear to occur. The study of Harima et al. is one of few literature reference to direct photogeneration in organic solids.
