Photodissociation reactions single-photon

In the following section, two types of photodissociation will be discussed single-photon dissociation and VUV multiphoton dissociation. The examples given are those with which we have worked and so is not a complete list of photodissociation reactions for which internal energies of photofragments have been determined. Several excellent reviews of a more general nature are available in the literature. ... 

Townsend et al. were able to further resolve the photodissociation of formaldehyde to show that the rotationally highly excited CO was accompanied by vibrationally cold H2, as expected for a reaction over a single-concerted TS (shown in Figure 8.21 as 95). A smaller component, observed at higher photon energies, involves production of rotationally cold CO and vibrationally hot H2. Three areas of our studies covering photodissociation (by the absorption of single and multiple photons), electronic-to-vibrational energy transfer and combustion related reactions are discussed. Because of space limitation, we present primarily results obtained in this Laboratory and related work.
