Photo-Fenton Reactions with Porous Mixed Oxides 

The high solubility of Fe ions in water leads to a mixed photoreaction where it proceeds on both photocatalyst surface and in solution. The reactive Fe ions generate hydroxyl radicals or reduce oxygen dissolved in the reaction solution  

Then the oxygen radicals interact according to Eqs. (21.7) and (21.8) leading to hydrogen peroxide  

Finally, hydrogen peroxide is decomposed by Fe ions, which oxidize to Fe closing the photo-Fenton cycle [95]. Thus, when the degradation of organic compounds ends solubilized iron, ions turn back to the catalyst surface.
