Photo-Fenton Reactions with Porous Mixed Oxides

Photo-Fenton Reactions with Porous Mixed Oxides [Pg.491]

The high solubility of Fe ions in water leads to a mixed photoreaction where it proceeds on both photocatalyst surface and in solution. The reactive Fe ions generate hydroxyl radicals or reduce oxygen dissolved in the reaction solution  [Pg.491]

Then the oxygen radicals interact according to Eqs. (21.7) and (21.8) leading to hydrogen peroxide  [Pg.491]

Finally, hydrogen peroxide is decomposed by Fe ions, which oxidize to Fe closing the photo-Fenton cycle [95]. Thus, when the degradation of organic compounds ends solubilized iron, ions turn back to the catalyst surface. [Pg.492]
