Phosphetane sulfides

The photochemical reaction of phosphetane sulfide 35 gave some ring-cleaved product like phosphinidene sulfide and methylene(thioxo)phosphorane as well as the ring-expanded product. However, characterization of the final products was not complete <1999JOM(585)167>.

The Marinetti group ° has also prepared many P-stereogenic menthyl-phosphetanes. Although there is one report on phosphetane sulfides,most of the work has been carried out with l-menthyl-2,2,3,3-tetramethylphosphetane oxide (81).
